The interface

The Modlumi window has a viewport in the middle, a menu bar and toolbar at the top, panels you can dock around the viewport, and a status bar at the bottom.

The viewport shows your model in 3D. The red, green and blue lines are the axes; they meet at the origin. Most tools snap to the axes and to points on existing geometry, and show a colored hint when they do. See Drawing.

Right-click in the viewport for a context menu with the commands that apply to what you clicked, such as Erase, Hide, Make Group and Undo.

The toolbar holds every modeling tool, in groups:

Group Tools
Selection Select, Eraser
Drawing Line, Freehand, Arc, Rectangle, Circle, Polygon
Shape editing Extrude, Offset, Sweep
Transform Move, Rotate, Scale, Flip
Measure and materials Measure, Change Axes, Paint, Pick Material
Navigation Orbit, Pan, Zoom

Hover a button to see its name and shortcut. The keyboard shortcuts page lists them all.

The status bar tells you what the active tool expects next, for example Click the opposite corner or type width, depth and Enter. It also shows the current editing context and the document’s length unit.

While a tool is active you can type a value, such as 2m or 45, and press Enter. You don’t need to click anywhere first; the value appears in the measurement box. Each tool’s page explains which values it accepts.

Open panels from the Window menu:

  • Properties shows details of the selection, such as a face’s area or a group’s name.
  • Materials lists the model’s materials and lets you edit their colors. See Materials.
  • Outliner shows the tree of groups and components. See Groups and components.
  • Model Settings holds the document’s units. See Units.
  • Script Console and Script Editor run JavaScript. See the scripting guide.

Drag a panel’s title bar to dock it somewhere else. Window → Reset workspace layout puts every panel back where it started.

Every change to the model is one step in Edit → Undo and Edit → Redo. The menu names the step, for example Undo Make Group.

Windows Linux
Undo Ctrl+Z Ctrl+Z
Redo Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y

Selecting and moving the camera are not undo steps.
